I have this recollection from one of the earliest Yom Kippur services I attended of one of his young sons running into the service and running up the aisle to see his father. Rabbi Aryeh was very sweet to him and did not push him away but rather gathered him to him and allowed him to stay as he continued singing in prayer. I felt that was a very powerful nonverbal testament to the love he had for his family and how connected that love was to his work as a rabbi – somehow – that his prayers were in part for his family – an expression of his love of them
